THE CHALLENGE

“How to Leverage Influence and Collaboration To Accelerate Growth”

Ramboll is one of the leading engineering and architecture organizations in the world. Duncan was challenged to devise a keynote and facilitation experience to give the leadership team the strategies, tools, and techniques to collaborate more effectively in order to help the leadership team establish Ramboll as the market leader in the APAC area.

Spread over 35 countries, a lack of collaboration between functions was cited as a reason for the lack of growth in this new area. There were 50 senior leaders who attended the conference who needed a new perspective and inspiration on how to work more collaboratively with one another and across functions and countries yet at the same time influence more effectively. Duncan was also asked to facilitate an additional one-hour team working session to really get granular about applying the content into their own context.

DUNCAN’S SOLUTION

“Mastering Effective Collaboration and Influence For Accelerated Growth”

Duncan met with the 3 main decision makers of the conference to establish what was required for the keynote. There was originally a lot of difference of opinions with the attempt to squeeze too many different focusses. From my experience, this simply dilutes the message. After gaining the clarity – we worked together to shape a keynote that would inspire and deliver high-quality takeaways in a fun way to the SLT. Duncan then curated the content drawing on his own experience, established keynote, and researched to make a one-off, one-of-a-kind keynote tailored to deliver the required outcome.

He then spent some time designing key questions and interactive exercises for the one-hour facilitation workshop – which fostered facilitation and the sharing of experience and thoughts to create a collaboratively plan where everyone was focused on driving those changes and cascading them down to the team.

THE RESULT

“The Best Keynote I’ve Seen In My Life and I Have Seen Lots of Thought Leaders”

The keynote was extremely well received with the best comment cited above. The leadership team were left inspired and ready to apply and employ Duncan’s suggestions from his keynote. There was a real air of excitement in the room and a lot of fun through the facilitated team exercise where the SLT really helped forge a collaborative roadmap that they felt better equipped to execute.

UPDATE:

Since this keynote was delivered, Ramboll has continued to take strides into establishing and positioning themselves as the leading engineering and architectural firm in the Asian Pacific area and have secured some major contracts. They continue to work collaboratively and grow their business in excess of 16,000 employees.

THOUGHTS FROM DUNCAN

“Quite often it’s the work before the work, that makes the work better.”

Perhaps the key overriding principle I share in a lot of my keynotes is getting to understand the client and their specific needs and wants. It’s not about me but about their specific set of circumstances and gaining clarity as to the specific theme, topic or keynote they want to be crafted.

The work before the work is often the most time-consuming but I take comfort from the fact that this work ensures my keynote meets the client’s needs and delivers above and beyond their expectations. Without this, I am simply rolling out the same keynote to different organizations. My keynotes are tailored. If you have a specific set of needs, requirements or requests – then get in touch and I’d love to engage in conversation to see how I can help serve you best.
